Creative Arts Standards and Expectations
Aside from standard expectations such as punctuality, dependability, preparedness, and so on, the Creative Arts team is called to live up to two specific standards; service and excellence. We have redefined these terms for this team because we understand that they have been overused and even abused in some settings. However, we want to give them new life and use them to challenge you and help you grow as a person and as a member of this team. Please read through these standards in their entirety before continuing with the application.
Spirit-Led
We believe in preparing a place for God to dwell and we believe that the Holy Spirit guides and directs us to fulfill God's will. Here are a few of the standards to make sure our team members are following the calling(s) of the Holy Spirit and are always prepared to pursue God's presence:
Service
Serving people is not an obligation, it is a calling. We are called to serve others, and not just when it’s convenient or when we benefit from it. So, let’s set the record straight and talk about what true service looks like?
-
True service is unconditional.
-
True service has no expectations attached to it.
-
True service is remaining usable even in the face of struggle.
-
The best time to serve others and allow God to use you is when you’re struggling yourself.
-
Relationships are built and strengthened when you struggle together.
-
Your relationship with GOD is built and strengthened when you struggle WITH him.
-
Serving is an act of faith.
-
We may never see the fruit of our service/sacrifice.
-
The glory is not ours, we serve to give glory to God.
Excellence:
“Do the best you can, where you are, with what you have.”
We do not believe in pursuing excellent performances. We believe in helping each member of the team pursue excellence in their own lives and in their specific role on the team because when each individual pursues excellence, the result is a team that pursues excellence together.
Excellence also means:
-
Doing the best you can DESPITE your circumstances.
- We often try to change or improve our circumstances before we do the best we can.
- We grow by persevering through struggle and difficult circumstances.
-
Individual excellence leads to team excellence.
-
Itis your responsibility to make sure you do your part with excellence.
- It is not your responsibility to make sure anyone else does their part with excellence.
