    A brief visit from an animal ambassador & staff ( 5-10 minutes)

    Choose from the following topics:

    Animal 101
    Wings, whiskers, beaks, and claws! These are just a few special traits we can identify on our animal friends. This program will focus on animal features and behaviors that help them survive. (If an Elephant Went to School by Ellen Fischer)

    Wild Wardrobe
    Do animals need clothes? No! They have their own body coverings that are specialized for their environment. Students will be introduced to and classify animals with traits like feathers, fur, scales, and more.  (Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing, by Judi Barrett)

    What’s For Dinner?
    Everybody has a favorite food, even our animal friends. Learn how each animal is built for eating different types of food. Watch closely, and you’ll even get to see our animals eat their favorite treats. (If an Armadillo Went to a Restaurant by Ellen Fischer)

    Zoo Groove
    Act along and move as the animals do! Hop, slither, walk, and climb like our amazing animals as we discover how animals use their bodies to move in unusual ways.  (Doing the Animal Bop, by Jan Ormerod and Lindsey Gardiner)

    This is a multi-contact standards-based program that introduces middle and highschool students to exhibit design through inquiry-based learning.

    Without leaving our classroom, we'll travel to locations near and far as we explore various habitats animals call home. Students will identify what each animal needs from their habitat, as well as learn about the important roles of the animals in their habitats. 

    Wildlife Wonders
    Animals have amazing adaptations! You'll get an up close look at special characteristics and abilities that allow them to survive and thrive. Your presenter will focus on highlighting structural and behavioral adaptations of our animal ambassadors. 

    ZOOM-in
    Students will be introduced to the diversity of the animal kingdom as we "zoom in" on different animal classes. Learn what make each class of animals unique as you interact and observe live animals like amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and more.

    Workin' on the Wildside
    Students will be introduced to the diversity of careers available at animal care facilities. Learn how skills and interests they might already have can lead to a succesful and fuldilling career in the animal care field.

    Animals from around the world serve important roles in their ecosystem. Our engaging ZOOMobile animal team will show off some of their natural behaviors that will inspire you to look at them a little differently.

  • During your new teacher meeting, the Outreach Supervisor will work with you to figure out the best timeline for your group. Typically this program is spread out across 6-8 weeks.

  • General Information:
    Registration form and payment must be received 2 weeks prior to your first date preference. If payment is not received by your balance due date, scheduled programs will be cancelled.  There is an evening charge of $50 for any program beginning or ending after 5 PM.  Please see below for additional mileage fees.

    Cancellation Policy:
    Should you need to get a hold of us, please call 719-424-7827.  Refunds will not be issued if programs are cancelled less than 2 weeks before the program date.

    Temperature & Weather Policy:
    Many of our animals have temperature restrictions that limit when they can be safely presented outdoors.  If you are interesed in an outdoor program, please have an alternate indoor location if the weather is not suitable for the animals. No animals are permitted for outdoor programs if the temperature is below 65°F.

    Submittal Instructions:
    Please acknowledge that you accept these conditions and click complete form below to submit your request. Your ZooMobile program(s) is not guaranteed until the contact person named in the form receives a confirmation email from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and payment is processed.

    Please allow 72 hours for a returned call or email regarding scheduling your ZOOMobile request.  Reservations are not final until payment is processed.
