ensemble mise-en announces a CALL FOR PERFORMANCE PROPOSALS to be presented as part of the 2018/19 MISE-EN_PLACE CURATOR SERIES. The 2018/19 Curator Series is the second installment of our curator program, which plans to present approximately 20 concerts from October thru May. We are interested in proposals for single, evening-length concerts that will be curated by members of ensemble mise-en: Josh Perry, Mark Broschinsky, Kelley Barnett, Yumi Suehiro, and Moon Young HA. All concerts will be held at MISE-EN_PLACE in Bushwick, Brooklyn on Friday nights. Artists selected will have full access to the ensemble’s space and resources to aid in their concert production including: visual/audio equipment, a baby grand piano, and percussion instruments.
The mission of the Curator Series is to present and create concert experiences that exemplify the depth and diversity of contemporary music. The first season of the Curator Series was launched this past year. 15 concerts were presented representing collaborations with more than 20 artists/ensembles.
-Artists receive full access to the ensemble’s space and resources (more details below in SPACE).
-All events will be presented on Fridays at 8pm from October 2018 to May 2019.
-Artists will have access to the space starting at 5pm on the day of concert.
-The box office revenue is split between the artist (50%) and the venue (50%). In general, admission is $15 (general) / $10 (students) / $5 (members).
-If necessary, artists should obtain any kinds of required performance and copyright licenses for their project. (i.e. ASCAP, BMI, etc.)
-Artists are expected to promote their concerts in collaboration with the ensemble’s promotion activities.
About the SPACE:
In late 2014, ensemble mise-en opened MISE-EN_PLACE in Bushwick, Brooklyn: a rehearsal, office, and performance + project space. MISE-EN_PLACE principally hosts ensemble mise-en rehearsals, meetings, the ACOUSTIC+ and SOLOIST concert series, and COLA Project. The space includes a variety of equipment to aid in concert production including; visual/audio equipment, a baby grand piano, and percussion equipment (for a full list of equipment, please contact via email Josh Perry email@example.com or Mark Broschinsky firstname.lastname@example.org).
