First-time volunteers must pass a screening process and are required to attend orientation meetings. These will take place in Winnipeg in the months leading up to Ai-Kon 2025. Do you have reliable transportation and the ability to attend these meetings? Please detail any questions or concerns you may have! Note: If you are applying as a return volunteer, you do not have to pass the screening process again.

The Maid Cafe outfits available are of a certain size (bust 90 cm, waist 80 cm and hips 95 cm). Are you able to fit within these measurements? If not, other options may be available - just let us know! This does not apply to Back of House volunteers.

The minimum number of volunteer hours for Ai-Kon is 8, but Maid Cafe volunteers typically exceed this requirement. Working at the Maid Cafe often involves standing/walking for 4-8 hour shifts with one-hour breaks in between seatings. If you are a maid or butler, you will also have to carry food and drinks on serving trays. Volunteers are required to attend either setup or teardown of the Maid Cafe. If you have any questions, comments, or issues concerning these requirements, please detail them below.

The Maid Cafe typically runs in the afternoon and evening on the Friday of Ai-Kon, and from ~12-6PM on Saturday. Do you have any other volunteer commitments during Ai-Kon that could interfere with the Maid Cafe hours? If yes, please detail them below.
