What you should know about our program and how we handle outside projects.
We receive many requests from individuals and community organizations to cover events, videotape meetings, and provide publicity for various causes. It can be overwhelming for the students because they are already working hard to produce content for our broadcast.
Requests most often come in two forms:
1. A story idea
2. A request for a video to be produced.
If the request is for a story, the idea is forwarded to the students. If they deem the story relevant for the Carlsbad HS audience, they have the option of picking up the story and producing the story.
If the request is to produce content that is not primarily for our broadcast, the students can opt to work on their own time, and charge a fee while using their own equipment. Typically the client will pay the student for their time and talent. Students charge by the "finished minute" and their fees are based upon the complexity of the video project. In rare cases students are willing to work for community service hours, but a broadcasting student can easily earn those hours in other ways.
Below please complete the form and click Apply. It will be e-mailed to us and then forwarded to the students. If we get a student or team of students who are interested, I will forward your contact info to them.
Thanks!
