Part I - Registration:
All lawyers newly admitted to practice law in New Mexico must register with the Bridge the Gap (BTG) Mentorship Program within 30 days of being sworn in (see Rule 24-110 NMRA). Regardless of whether the new attorney is exempt or planning to defer, part I of this form musted be completed.
Part II - Enrollment; Deferment; Exemption:
Enrollment: If you have practiced law for fewer than two years, you must enroll in the BTG Mentorship Program unless you qualify for a deferment or an exemption.
Deferment: If you are a judicial clerk, active military, or an inactive attorney, you may request a temporary deferment from the requirements of Rule 24-110 NMRA.
Exemption: If you have practiced for more than two years in another jurisdiction, you may file for a permanent exemption from Rule 24-110 NMRA.
The Limited License (Rule 15-301.1 or Rule 15-301.2 NMRA) and the New Mexico Bar Reciprocity (Rule 15-107) constitute an automatic exemption; no application is required.
