• Inspire Career Education Program

    Program for 16 and older. This program is for those who are entering the workforce for the first time, looking for a career change, and/or in need of essential soft skills training. Lectures are held via Zoom at our main office 1920 Old Springville Road, Center Point, AL 35215. Students participating will have computer and internet access.

  • Professionalism, Attendance, and Technology Guidelines for class

    All participants will need to follow the Inspire Education Program Guidelines

    Professionalism Guidelines

    1. Be 10 minutes early for class in place and ready to work. 
    2. Have your cameras turned on.  
    3. Be in a quiet space with full attention. 
    4. Be on a computer or tablet device for orientation and class.  
    5. Have a stable internet connection.

    Technology Guidelines

    Participants who attend virtually are required to have the appropriate technology to successfully complete the class.

    1. A computer or reliable tablet
    2. Working web camera
    3. Stable internet 

    Attendance Policy

    Participants can only miss 2 days of class with a valid excuse.  If there are excessive absences participants will be dropped from the program.

  • Course Schedule

    • Week 1: Assessments, Life Development Planning, and Career Goal Setting-TABE Assessment, Assigned Life Development Coach, and Career Coach Pre Op Hope
    • Week 2: Computer Technology, Time Management, Problem Solving -focuses on learning technology, time management, and problem-solving techniques.
    • Week 3: Communication, Customer Service, Conflict Resolution, and Workplace Ethics & Behaviors-focuses on developing communication skills, customer service skills resolving conflict in the workplace, and workplace behavior and ethics.
    • Week 4:  Job Search Techniques & Diversity-learning appropriate job search techniques, understanding diversity in the workforce.
    • Week 5:  FDIC Money Start-learning money management, making good financial decisions, and workshop with Operation Hope
    • Week 6: Test out week.
    • Week 7: Skills Development & Professional Portfolio Development- focuses on defining and your skills, developing a professional portfolio, and learning faith-based principles in work
    • Week 8: Professionalism, Addressing Your Past, and Interview Preparation-focuses on developing professionalism, addressing past mistakes (criminal background, gaps in employment, and job-hopping) with employers, and interview preparation.

    CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY:  All courses must use Canvas to gain access to vital course information such as the syllabus, handouts, presentations, lectures, activities, assignments, announcements, etc.   Course lectures will use Zoom.  Students may log on using a PC, MAC,  or Tablet.

    CURRICULUM: The course curriculum will come from WorkFaith Birmingham and the Alabama Ready to Work Program through Lawson State Community College

    EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT

    WorkFaith Birmingham Completion includes 95% Attendance and Punctuality rate, completion of the 2-week course, completion of the mock interview process, and participation in graduation.

     Ready to Work Completion 95% Attendance and Punctuality rate, Satisfactory achievement of work ethic, organizational skills, attitude, and motivation, 70% or higher on all required assessments, National Career Readiness Certificate.
