Thank you for your interest in becoming a Foster with C.A.R.E. for P.E.T.S. Without fosters we simply could not save the number of animals that we do. To ensure the best possible foster pet match for you, please complete this form thoroughly. The majority of our fosters are short term situations. CFP is a shelter intake preventation 501c3. Our mission to assist offset intake for Winnebago County Animal Services. This could mean that we are holding a stray pet while looking for its owner or an owner surrender that is being diverted from Animal Services. Our goal is that most cases are short term. That means the pet going back to its owner or being transferred to a rescue for full vetting and adoption. We typically have very short notice with the pets that come our direction. Many owners contact WCAS as a last resort, so when they are to the point of contacting Animal Services, they don't want to hold the pet any longer. We are partnered with WCAS and while our goal is intake prevention, we may be in a situation that a pet does need to go there. Thank you so very much for supporting our community!

The majority of the dogs euthanized by Winn Co Animal Services are "bully breed", We have a large population of these dogs in our community so naturally, they are a large part of our focus and are at the greatest risk. When any question with temperament arises, we have an evaluation done by the same trainer that WCAS consults with. Do you have concerns with fostering a "bully breed"? If so, please elaborate.*

While C.A.R.E. for P.E.T.S. can help out our fosters from time to time with food, bedding, transporting pets etc, please consider the following before submitting your application:
- Your ability/willingness to afford daily care for your foster pet - food, bedding etc
- Your ability/willingness to transport your foster pet to the vet if needed
- Your ability/willingness to administer any treatments/medicine if needed
- Your ability/willingness to do training with your foster pet if required

In doing so I understand that my home may be subject to inspection by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
