GASPP/ GA TRiO 

Professional Scholarship Competition

The Georgia Association of Special Programs Personnel (GASPP)/ GA TRiO and Minority Education Initiative  is pleased to announce the Professional Scholarship competition.  TRIO professionals are invited to compete for two (2) $500 scholarships to be used for educational expenses while pursing an associates, bachelors, masters or doctoral degree. 

Nominees MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF GASPP/GA TRiO.

Applicants will be judged and rated in the following categories:

SAEOPP Professional Scholarship

1. Essay (70 points total)
   1. Content - 50 points
   2. Grammar - 10 points
   3. Formatting - 10 points
2. Resume/Vita (10 points total)
   
   1. Employment in TRIO - 5 points
   2. Leadership/Mentoring/etc. - 5 points
3. Honors & awards received, Leadership, community/volunteer service and involvement in TRIO activities- 10 points
4. One recommendation letter- 10 points

NOTE: Paper applications will not be accepted.

Submission Deadline: April 26, 2019  by 11:59 pm EST

Each application will be reviewed and rated by the Scholarship Committee. Applicants will be notified in writing of the results by May 10, 2019.  

Winners MUST provide official verification of the most current semester enrollment, in order to receive the award by September 13, 2019. 

 

Award checks, made payable to the applicant, and will be initiated upon receipt of any requested documentation and forwarded to the designated mailing address by October 5, 2019.

Each successful scholarship application will have the following items uploaded in addition to the online scholarship application.  Do not attempt to submit an application until all items have been gathered and are ready to be uploaded in an electronic format (PDF, JPG, JPEG, or PNG; 200 dpi or greater; maximum file size is 10 MB per file).

Please describe in your own words: (Please answer both parts)

• Explain how your current educational pursuits can help the TRIO movement and TRIO program participants. 

•  Pick a controversial issue in TRiO and suggest a solution.

 

Style Guidelines for ALL essays:

• In the right header, type the your first initial and last name.
• In the left header, type the name of the award (the name of award for this applicant is GASPP/ GA TRiO Professional Scholarship.
• Essay should be between 400-500 words.  All essays should have a title.  Titles and information in the header do not contribute to the word count for the essay.
• Essay should be in Times New Roman fonts only, with a 12 pt size, and double (2.0) spacing with 1 inch margins (top, bottom, left, right).
