Bilingual signage is mandatory on all sections of The Great Trail.
We encourage accessibility and inclusion initiatives. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any.
General rule : It is recommended that 2 signs be installed every kilometer – one facing in each direction, on trail with slow moving traffic. Signs should be installed at all access points to the trail, and at decision-making intersections or turns. For straight-aways, trails without exits, faster travel or roadway, this distance can be increased to 5 km.
Tentative installation locations are to be supplied when ordering. Quantities are to reflect the locations plus 10% for error.
Replacing/upgrading signs eligibility: Where aluminum signs are 10+ years old, showing signs of age, are damaged, can't be read within 5 ft., or have the 1st or 2nd generation Trans Canada Trail logo.
A final report of GPS installation locations is required when complete. This data is used to confirm routes and signage inventories. A photo showing a selection of signs installed are also to be included. These documents are to be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org by November 1, 2018.
