  • 1. Where do you live?

Choose your service area from the list below.

Each township will draft their own ballot language. All township contracts are set at a 1.0 Mill rate, but due to the Headlee Amendement (a tax capping mechanism) the net rate paid by residents is often less than 1.0 Mill.

  • 2. Enter the Taxable Value of your property

(Image below shows how to find your taxable value using your property tax bill) Property Tax Bill Example

    • Taxable Value is the value used for determining the property owner's tax liability. Taxable value is approximately 1/2 the assessed value of the property.
    • Assessed value is determined by a property's market value, and is set by the assessor.
    • State Equalized value is the assessed value that has been adjusted folloiwng county and state equalization.
  • 3. Ballot Proposals for 2024

    • November 5, 2024 - Chocolay Charter Township, Marquette Charter Township, Sands Township, Skandia Township, and West Branch Township will have a ballot proposal for renewal of library services.
    • City of Marquette - Not on the Ballot! The library has a perpetual millage with the City of Marquette, no renewal of services is required.

These ballot proposals do not create an increase in property taxes paid for library services at PWPL. Each is a renewal of the current service agreement.
