We are so excited that you will be joining us for our upcoming summer production of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG! Before we can start, we need to put you all in the roles that will fit you best! In order to do that, we need to have auditions. This is sometimes a nerve-wracking process but can also be very fun. The more prepared you are, the more fun it will be for you! We are here to help you and to teach you how it is in the real world of theatre and we promise we will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and happy! The best part is, when it’s done, you will be SO proud of yourself!
Here is what you should prepare for your audition:
- Think of at least 2 interesting things about yourself that you can tell us when we meet you. We want to learn as much about you as possible!
- Be prepared with a memorized monologue, around 1 minute long.
- Choose a 1 minute selection from a song of your choice. This selection should be from a musical but NOT from Chitty Chitty bang bang.
- If you are interested in a lead role, we are also asking that, in addition to above, you prepare the selections we have chosen. We suggest choosing one character to focus on and familiarizing yourself with the others. You may be asked to sing or read lines at your audition so please be prepared! The character breakdown with song selections and all of the scenes can be found on our website at : https://www.standingovationtheatre.com/audition-info
SO, please choose an audition time slot from the options below. We will be holding auditions on 2 dates this year. Monday, June 11 and Saturday, June 16. Slots will fill quickly, so please do not wait till the last minute or the day that you want may be filled! We have enough slots available for all of our campers and hope that we see each and everyone one of you there! We can't wait!
***If your child is absolutely terrified to audition, obviously they will still be in the production and cast in an ensemble role. We HIGHLY encourage them to at least come and meet us. We are trained in working with children and know how to make the kids feel comfortable. This is a learning experience and we want them all to have the opportunity to learn what a real audition is like. If your child is having trouble learning a musical song or memorizing a monologue, we may ask them to just sing “Twinkle Twinkle” and tell us a story of their favorite day!
