• Sex Worker Legislative Advocacy in New York

Join us on Tuesday, June 5th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for our free workshop, Sex Worker Legislative Advocacy in New York (at the Sex Workers Project/Urban Justice Center at 40 Rector Street, 9th Floor). At the workshop, we will share information about how the legislative processes work in New York and give a recent history of winning campaigns on Access to Condoms (aka No Condoms as Evidence). We’ll then dig into the current bills in our state and opportunities for action and organizing around a piece of legislation that would repeal the “loitering for the purposes of prostitution” law. The workshop will be led by Audacia Ray of the NYC Anti-Violence Project and Jessica Penaranda of the Sex Workers Project and it will take place at the Sex Workers Project. This workshop is for sex workers who want to do legislative advocacy at the city and state levels in New York. Questions? Email Audacia Ray at aray@avp.org

  • To be effective in legislative advocacy, we need to know what districts you live in - and in NYC giving just your zip code doesn't help us do this. Please either write in your address (you don't need to include your apartment number) so we can look up your representatives OR look up your NY State Assemblymember and Senator and your City Councilmember and enter them below. This form is encrypted and your address information will not be shared.
