Alarm Code Standards Acknowledgment and Request
  • ALARM CALL PROCEDURES:

BFW requires that any alarm at a BFW location be responded to by an aurhorized employee.  The person responding must have an alarm code, key and the authority to make decisions as they relate to the store.  The alarm company will continue to call down the alarm notification list until they make contact.  In the event that no calls are returned or no contact is made, the police will be immediately dispatched.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF STORE MANAGEMENT AND ALARM/KEY HOLDERS TO ANSWER ANY ALARM NOTIFICATION PHONE CALL FROM THE ALARM COMPANY AND RESPOND TO THE LOCATION.  FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN UNNECCASSRY EXPOSURE TO BFW MERCHANDISE AND PROPERTY.

Refusing to answer or respond to an alarm event will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.  The use of an “On call” system by store alarm/key holders is acceptable (Weekly), however, the alarm must be responded to.

    Procedures
    a)      All Store Managers are responsible for coordinating with Corporate HR in  maintaining an updated emergency listing of on-call personnel.

    b)     The alarm company will contact personnel in order of the alarm call list provided by store management via H.R. concerning after-hour alarm conditions.  Details of the alarm condition will be provided by the alarm company to the first employee contacted.  The alarm company will then ask if a police response is desired.  Confirm with the alarm company that you would like a police response along with your estimated time of arrival at the location.  Never enter the location alone without the police present.

    c)      When arriving at the store, immediately speak to the police department representative who is the on site supervisor.  Ascertain if the store has been checked by the police personnel.

Note:  DO NOT ENTER THE STORE IF NO SEARCH HAS BEEN CONDUCTED.  WAIT FOR THIS TO BE DONE BEFORE PROCEEDING INTO THE STORE.  IF POLICE HAVE SEARCHED AND LEFT THE LOCATION PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL, REQUEST THAT THEY RETURN TO THE STORE TO ENSURE THAT THE INTERIOR IS SEARCHED.

    d)     Once in the store, ensure that all areas are secured as per the store’s closing procedures.

    e)      Should the police discover an actual/attempted break-in, allow police personnel to investigate the crime scene and notify your district manager immediately so that investigative efforts can be coordinated with Loss prevention.

  • ALARM CODE SECURITY STANDARDS:

The following associates will be issued Alarm codes at each location:

    • Store Manager
    • Assistance Store Manager
    • Sales Lead
    • Warehouse Lead

In the case of a personnel change, request will be made via authorization form to Human Resources to notify the alarm company  and request an alarm code for the individuals in question. It is against BFW standards and procedures to share alarm codes with other associates. In the case of unforeseen circumstance, any decisions to deviate from this must be made by the appropriate authority (Senior Executive of Operations). Failure to follow these standards set forth can result in discipline up to and including termination.

The Store Manager will review standards and best practices regarding alarm system response, call lists and security standards with the new code holder.

Upon resignation, termination, transfer, or demotion, notify the corporate H.R. office to have the employee's alarm code deleted and removed from the system.
