Bodily Fluid Exposure Procedure
When an employee is exposed to third party bodily fluids, the following steps are required:
The supervisor is required to fill out worker’s compensation form and to require the employee to complete all required forms. The supervisor on scene will request a blood sample from the injured/sick party.
We will send our employees for a blood draw after 3 months to allow any contagion to appear. If the injured/sick party’s blood tests negative for any contagions, blood test for employee is not necessary.
City/insurer will pay for all of the blood samples taken.
The exposed employee will be advised to be cautious around family members and close associates until the blood results are known, including their own. Until the results are known, employees should be advised not to have unprotected sex.
