Cumberland WinterFaire features the exceptional talents of over 70 crafters and artists. The Faire is fast becoming one of the Comox Valley's premier holiday shopping destinations... with a Cumberland twist! Each location has its own charm, and each was very busy with visitors last year.
WinterFaire features a variety of handmade and fair trade goods – original fashions, paintings and prints, art cards, handmade local jewelry, toys and clothing for wee ones, pottery, wood products, delicious baked goods, unique seasonal decor, herbal wellness products… and more.
The Faire offers a full lunch canteen and live music in the CRI Hall, a 'drinks and goodies' canteen and live music in the Masonic Hall, and a craft drop in for youth at the museum.
WinterFaire is becoming increasingly competative for vendors. A juried process allows the museum a more transparent system for selection. Each application is reveiwed thoughtfully. Acceptance into the Faire will be granted according to space availability and consideration of the following:
- Goods are hand-made or fair trade (No third party or multi-level products, please)
- Quality
- Value (the price refects a balance of quality and accessibility for attendees)
- Branding (online and on-site presence)
- Optimum variety and mix of goods available at the fair
Applications are open until SEPTEMBER 7th. All applicants will be emailed notification of acceptance, or that you were not accepted, by Friday, September 21st.
* New this year - Fees will be paid after acceptance into the Faire, rather than at registration time.
In the event you must cancel your participation after you are acepted, we offer full refunds less a $20 fee up to one month prior to the event. After that, we offer a 50% discount on cancellations until two weeks prior to the Fair. If you cancel within two weeks of the Fair, we do not offer refunds of any amount due to the proximity of the event.
Additional Notes:
Fees include one 8' rectangular table and two chairs at the CRI, or one 6' table and two chairs at the museum or the Masonic Hall.
Vendors provide their own setup, extension cords, lights, etc.
Vendor spaces are non-transferable and may not be shared after acceptance without prior approval from the organzers.
Setup can begin as early as 8am and must be complete by 9:45am. Any spaces unclaimed by 9:30 may be reassigned at the organizers' discretion.
Vendors must remain until the Faire closes. Take down occurs between 4:00 and 5:00.
* As a museum, we have a moral obligation to thoughtfully consider cultural appropriation. We require that all makers have the rights to produce the items that they are selling. Cultural appropriation is the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of the customs, practices, ideas, etc. of one people or society by members of another and typically more dominant people or society.
