[Note: If you are not a Moroccan-born artist, there is a different application form for you to use to apply for a residency. Not this one. Thanks!]
Dear Artist,
Chokran Bzef ... for your interest in a residency at Green Olive Arts in Tetouan. Below this letter is the application form you requested. We accept applications year round from Moroccan citizens living in and outside Morocco. Following receipt of your completed application and any related documents, we will set up an interview with you and your application will be reviewed by the Selection Panel. The review process takes less than 2 weeks.
Residencies last from 2-6 weeks, during set residency seasons, with each artist determining the length of time appropriate to the work he or she wants to accomplish. If you are accepted to Green Olive Arts, we can help arrange your housing or you can arrange your own. Artists who have specific facilities needs should contact Green Olive Arts to determine if our studios will accommodate their work.
The residency fee is based on the length of your stay. Because we hold a high value of community and collaboration, the majority of our studios are set up as shared spaces, where 2-3 artists are at work. This will likely be an international mix of artists, encouraging creative influence across cultures. Because Green Olive Arts is also committed to promoting and facilitating the Moroccan arts movement, we offer special pricing for our Moroccan artists:
2020-2021 Shared Studio Prices:
2 -3 weeks - 600 DH per week
4-6 weeks - 500 DH per week
We also offer a 2-3 week residency for emerging Moroccan artists in January every year. The fee for this residency is covered by a grant, which also includes 700 dirham towards materials and supplies. Accepted artists are only required to pay the 200 DH deposit in advance to secure their space. Eligible artists must be in their final year of art school or just recently graduated.
The residency fee only includes studio space and resources (wifi, easels, basic tools, kitchen etc.) and the services of Green Olive Arts staff . Beyond that, the artist is responsible for the costs of art supplies, meals, transportation and housing. We have negotiated special rates with a number of housing options here in town (see our housing options web-page) and we can make those arrangements for our guests. Housing fees may vary depending on the time of year (As you may know, summer is peak tourist season in Tetouan).
Please be aware that once you have been accepted, a 200 DH deposit is required within 15 days after 'acceptance' to secure your studio space.
We are excited that you are interested in an art residency at Green Olive Arts, and we are eager to get to know you in the process. You may complete and submit the application below, so that our Selection Panel can make a decision about your proposed goals and your fit with our schedule and program.
Our Selection process typically includes a brief interview (in person, by phone or by Skype) before a final decision is made. Applicants will be contacted first by email to arrange the best time for this. We look forward to learning more about you!
If you have questions about the application, or need further information about Green Olive Arts, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail at arthouse@greenolivearts.com.
