About the Program:
Evergreen Theatre’s Drama Camp introduces participants to the magic of drama and puppetry by exploring different styles, meeting and creating new characters, and guiding participants through the construction of their very own high quality puppet character. Students will also engage in a variety of drama activities which may include improvisation, theatre tech (lights/staging etc), movement, mime, mask, theatre sports etc.
Each day of Drama Camp is jam-packed! Participants will spend time on their feet engaging in theatre games and explorations, as well as becoming the designers and builders of their very own puppets. The 5 day, weeklong camp features instruction from professional actors, artists and designers, and a final day performance for family and friends. Participants will take home all their creations on the final day.
Evergreen Theatre hires professional artists to instruct our Summer Camp Programs. All artists have extensive experience working with young people as well as in various fields of performance. Summer Camp Instructors have first aid and CPR training, and the supervision ratio is approximately 8:1.
Drama Camp will take place at Evergreen Community Spaces located in Mayland Heights - 10 minutes from downtown and easily accessible from Memorial Drive, Deerfoot Trail, 16th Ave, and Barlow Trail.
Camp runs from Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM (with a final performance Friday). The Camp is designed for children and teens ages 6-15 years. Campers are divided into appropriate age groupings for activities. Children must be 6 years old as of the first day of camp.
There will be supervised outdoor activities in the green space on our property (weather permitting). Please ensure participants have appropriate footwear and clothing for warm weather as well as sunscreen and bug spray if necessary. Students are required to bring their own bag lunch and 2 snacks per day. Evergreen encourages participants to bring lunch in environmentally friendly reusable bags and containers. Food and drink will not be provided to participants with the exception of water. Please note: Drama Camp is a nut-free zone!
