1. Assignment:Green Schools Advocate for the Green Schools Committee
2. Purpose of Assignment: Promote green schools that create a healthy environment that is conducive to learning while saving energy, resources and money, and provide for an educational experience that transcends the classroom by creating opportunities for curriculum innovation and hands-on, project based learning in which the building itself becomes an interactive teaching tool.
3. Tasks: Work with schools, communities and partners to develop, manage and staff various projects and initiatives, including providing educational programs, school tours, helping with projects, identifying partners. Types of projects may include: garden projects, energy and water audits, zero waste projects, sustainability workshops, and campus clean-ups.
4. Time Commitment:
Year round, 4 to 10 hours a month.
5. Skill Requirements:
Passionate about sustainability and education.
Knowledge of and/or interest in various Green Schools programs, including:
· Green Ribbon Schools
· Green Apple Day of Service
· Center for Green Schools
· CHPS
· LEED
· Green Schools National Network
6. Training and Skill Development:
No training required, just energy and commitment.
7. Job Location:
· Work from home
· Attend monthly meetings – locations vary
· Participate in projects on location at schools
