FUTURE CHAMPIONS PROGRAM APPLICATION
The Future Champions Program is a not-for-profit program which seeks to partner up-and-coming athletes with the equipment and expertise needed to further them in the sport(s) of cycling and triathlon. The program runs from October 2023 through September 2024. Participants to the program must meet the following requirements:
- Enrolled in a Kronos Triathlon Club full-season program (Youth or Development Squads), and be a member in good standing.
- Have a valid 2023 and 2024 Triathlon Alberta Membership Number (2024 Triathlon Alberta Number required on January 1, 2024)
- Participant is required to volunteer at an event during the 2022/2023 Club calendar season. The club will provide opportunities for this.
- Be an ambassador of the sport of triathlon and the Future Champions Program by engaging in fair play and good sportsmanship on and off the course.
- Be continually training with the Kronos Triathlon Club (athletes who are not attending practices are subject to losing program privelages and bike may be taken back to provide another applicant to engage in training.
Due to the number of athletes within the club organization, and the limited resources and equipment within the program, an application and selection process will take place to pair athletes with Future Champions bikes for the 2023/2024 season. The program’s goal is to pair as many athletes as possible with a road bike, however, a limited number of athletes will be able to be taken into the program and paired with a bike. Precedence will be based on, but not limited to, access to a bike, length of time in the program (newer athletes are more likely to get a bike), athletes who are enrolled in the full season, athlete’s size (we have to fit the athlete’s with their appropriate sized bike), and any special circumstances that warrant entry to the program.
INSTRUCTIONS: Please fill out the following application form. Athletes will be contacted directly concerning their acceptance into the program by September 30, 2023. Bikes will be allocated to Future Champion's athletes at the annual club bike maintenance day in the spring of 2024 (before the start of the outdoor season, date TBD).
PROGRAM COST: The club wants to continue to provide the Future Champions Program in order to reduce the barrier-to-entry into the sport. Due to the continual cost of keeping up the program's fleet of bikes (maintenance and bike replacement), there will be a $150 cost to the program this season. Upon acceptance into the program, and prior to collection of the athlete's bike, payment must be received through the club's registration platform.
