A newborn session can take 2-3 hours to complete. If you're bottle feeding, bring enough for at least two milk breaks. If you're breastfeeding, I ask that when you arrive get the baby into their diaper and go ahead and nurse until your little one is settled.
If you're doing family and or siblings portraits, those photos are first. If possible, it works nicely if siblings can be picked up after their photos are taken. If not, they can hang in the studio with us. Or there is a playground within a 2 minute drive.
I recommend trying to keep baby awake the hour before you arrive. A bath works or a long feeding session. Anything is helpful since when you get to the studio we'll want baby tuckered out. A full belly is key. If baby is awake and unsettled, I'll ask you give them a bottle or nurse.
If your session is for day 4-6 and you believe you need more time for your milk to come in, please let me know and we can push the session out a few days.
I stylize the session before you arrive. Please fill out the questionnaire below. During the photo session I will use 1-2 fabric backdrops, a bed prop, a bucket prop, a bowl prop, and a curly wool flokati rug or two. If we're doing family photos - depending on what you're wearing we'll use an oatmeal/cream, white, or charcoal gray backdrop.
