Commercial and industrial facilities, stores, and service centers require a great deal of machinery to remain in operation. It is helpful to strike a balance in spending by purchasing industry specific machinery new and maintenance machinery for facilities used. Top dollar can be expended for upgraded technology when money is saved buying used floor scrubbers. This works well when the floor scrubber for sale is refurbished.
The Difference
Buying used floor scrubbers in “as is” condition is a high-risk venture. It may work for a week, a few months, or a year. There is no way to know what condition the machinery is at the time of sale. This is not the case with refurbished floor scrubbers. These products are still used floor scrubbers, or sweepers, or buffers but they have been brought back to manufacturer specifications.
That means the machinery has been inspected, repaired, and tested by professional technicians. The results are typically indistinguishable from that of brand new machines. These will come with a warranty in most cases. If the company does not offer any type of warranty, purchased refurbished equipment somewhere else.
The Process
The process of refurbishing varies in terms of degree and attention to detail. That company which offers no warranty is likely to give machines a quick once over, replace the batteries, and price them. They are technically refurbished but may not provide excellent results. A detailed process eliminates machinery that is not suitable to refurbish at each step.
Machines that have extensive damage, for example, will not proceed past the first inspection. A thorough cleaning is done, and the tank is checked for leaks. If there are leaks, the machine is set aside at that point for recycling. Machines that remain are evaluated by two technicians. One focuses on the electrical and mechanical components while the other concentrates on the pad drive motor, charger, and scrub head deck.
Final Touches
Detailing is completed so the machinery looks like new. Any small dents scraped paint or worn out levers are replaced. The machinery is then tested again one last time before it is available for sale. These machines will have warranties, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) parts, and can be repaired by the company in the future.
Ask
Do not hesitate to ask about the specific process of refurbishing before purchasing any machinery. A company that takes the time to complete high-quality refurbishing will have no problem explaining the entire process to customers. If the request is met with general assurances, seek equipment elsewhere.
