  • PROGRAM OF INTEREST

    Please carefully review the details and requirements for each internship opportunity before selecting your program of interest. 

  • Advancement Program - The Advancement team supports Alliance For Children by securing funding for programs and services, executes our client affinity programs, and seeks and promotes opportunities to share our mission with the greater community. This includes processing all donations, thanking and stewarding donors and corporations, hosting two large fundraising events annually, applying for private and government grants, and coordinating client affinity programs such as Room Makeovers, Back to School, Christmas Connection, and Camp BLUE.

    Internship Requirements:

    • Must be a currently enrolled college student pursuing a degree in social work, communications, English, nonprofit management/fundraising, public service, business, event planning/management, PR/marketing, journalism, or a related field.
    • Must have an interest in the nonprofit sector.
      Experience working with or volunteering for nonprofits is preferred.
    • Understands the seriousness and necessity of the mission of Alliance For Children and that exposure to sensitive content may occur.
    • Willingness to assist at fundraising events or client affinity events that take place outside of normal business hours. You may also be asked to interact with client families with professionalism and sensitivity at client affinity events.

  • Client Relations Specialist Program- As families become involved with the investigation and our healing services, their experiences from entering our family-friendly centers are critical to interventions and healing services. With an emphasis on Trauma Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), interactions with both caregivers and children are a focal point of this program. To learning attachment styles and how it is related to felt safety and child development needs.

    Internship Requirements:

    • Must have some experience with children and a desire to work in supporting children and families to ensure needs are met while at the center.
    • Assist in lobby organization and upkeep.
    • Engage with children and families in the lobby. Providing snacks, games and activities as needed.
    • Able to operate a telephone and computer to assist with front desk duties, which includes answering phones, welcoming appointments, working with partners, and managing the center calendar.
    • Regular and reliable attendance.
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Alliance For Children.
    • Assist with database documentation as needed.
    • Meet with and observe departments within the Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Clinical Assistant Program- The Clinical Assistant Intern ensures our clients and families have a smooth and supportive experience while at our offices.  They are also essential in providing our Clinical team with day-to-day administrative support.  *Please note this internship would not accrue Clinical practicum hours.

    Requirements:

    • Work with and assist all families in a supportive and respectful manner to ensure needs are being met, while child is attending counseling sessions.
    • Responsible for assisting with communicating with individual and group clients and/or contacting clients through communication app or sending letters to clients as needed.
    • Assemble monthly graduation baskets and print graduation certificates.
    • Assist with entering weekly group attendance.
    • Engage with volunteers that assist with lobby support.
    • Engage with families in the lobby to provide a supportive environment,
    • Document any client contact in Database.
    • Scan documents into Database as needed.
    • Complete required timesheet.
    • Observe group counseling sessions or intakes on a case-by-case basis as required by school program.
  • Community Education Program - Alliance For Children works to prevent abuse in our community by providing prevention education to children and adults in Tarrant County as well as ensuring that our staff and partners receive regular training to support their role in our mission. The Community Education Intern will work closely with community educators to conduct children’s education curriculum to students within Tarrant County school districts. Intern will also work with Outreach and Training Supervisor to assist with adult education needs by providing support in set-up/close out of events and trainings.

  • Family Advocate Program - Our specially trained team of Family Advocates helps navigate children and their protective family members through the overwhelming process of dealing with a case of child abuse. From initial outcry all the way through prosecution, our Family Advocates are there to help families understand the process and successfully access needed resources in our community. Families are referred to our program through our partners in the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and local law enforcement agencies. Services offered be the Family Advocate Program include but are not limited to: Case management, Resource and referrals, Court preparation, Financial assistance, Emergency needs and Assistance completing crime and social services applications.

    Requirements:

    • Applicants must be seeking at least a Bachelor’s level degree in social work, counseling or related field.
    • Interns must be willing to participate in multidisciplinary staff meetings, observe and implement family needs assessments, provide case management services when needed, research local family resources, and learn crisis intervention techniques.
    • Interns may also be asked to participate in community events, fundraisers, educational programs and other programs offered by Alliance For Children.

  • Team Relations Program- The Team Relations Program supports the MDT collaborative model and ensures efficient communication between partners and that children and families have access to our services in a timely manner. The Team Relations Intern will provide support to programs within the Team Relations Department. The intern will assist in MDT case coordination to facilitate services for the benefit of children and their families impacted by child abuse. Duties may include making DFPS reports, assisting with team appreciation events, case data entry and other assigned responsibilities.

    Requirements:

    • Students must have strong competency in computer literacy skills to successfully make reports, complete data entry and work to support program staff.
    • Ability to use critical thinking skills and follow detail-oriented instructions.
    • Ability to work closely with multiple team members to support the needs of the agency.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel, client data management system experience preferred.
    • Able to maintain confidentiality and present in a positive, professional manner at all times.
    • Able to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure of deadlines.
    • Regular and reliable attendance.
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Alliance For Children.

  • Internship Availability: Please note your schedule availability in the table provided. This allows an understanding of interns general availability.   **Center hours are available Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM., with some variations between centers. Evening hours are available for interns in the Clinical Department.
