Yellow Ball Level 1 - No experience necessary. Players are learning to rally.
Yellow Ball Level 2 - Must be able to rally a minimum of 15 times in a row, with a coach, including 2 backhand. Able to demonstrate proper preparation, hands, and follow-through on both the forehand and backhand. Knows the parts of a 78' court and is able to drop & hit, trap & catch.
Yellow Ball Level 3 - Must be able to rally a minimum of 25 times in a row, with a coach, including 4 backhand. Player must be able to successfully serve 6 out of 10. Able to demonstrate the unit turn, follow-through, and recovery on both the forehand and backhand. Knows the concept of a split step, when to use it and has dependability, directional control and volley skills. Player must be able to use a continental grip for primary strokes. Players in Yellow ball 3 are highly encouraged to participate in USTA Tournaments and to participate in 2 clinics per week.
Yellow Ball Level 4 - Must be able to rally a minimum of 50 times in a row, forehand and backhand. Player must be able to successfully serve 6 out of 10 using a continental grip. Player has consistent and dependable ground strokes, volleys and has developed spin variety on their ground strokes. Power and efficient footwork has developed and the player is able to demonstrate technical proficiency in competition. Player is already participating on a school team and in USTA Tournaments. Players in Yellow ball 4 are highly encouraged to participate in USTA Tournaments and to participate in 2 clinics per week.
