As far as your body is concerned, it’s either storing fat or burning it. The body has three fuels— protein (muscle), sugar, and fat— at its disposal for burning. When protein is burned, it becomes sugar, making us all either sugar or fat burners. We burn both fuels all the time, but individual metabolic tendencies make some of us burn more sugar and others burn more fat.
