    Hello! In order to be successful in an online program, you need to be computer/internet literate.

    Would you like to know if you have the Internet Skills to take the program? Complete this checklist and find out!

    First of all, you need a computer.

    You may use any computer or laptop to take the course.

    You need to know your computer. What kind of computer are you using? Is is a Mac? A PC? Laptop?

    You may be able to view some lessons using your mobile phone but in order to view the presentations and take the quizzes, and take the different learning activities, you need to have a computer or laptop.

    You need an Internet connection.

    In order to access the Internet, you computer needs an Internet connection.

    For improved performance, you need to have a reliable high-speed Internet connection, and the latest operating system of your computer.

    You need to know what browser you are using. 

    Your browser means the system that you use to browse the Internet. For example:

    • Firefox
    • Google Chrome
    • Microsoft Edge

    If you are using a Mac computer, Safari is your default browser. However, you should be able to switch to Google Chrome or Firefox.

    The recommended browsers for taking the Culture Advantage programs is Internet Explorer or Firefox.

    Make sure that you have the latest version of your browser.

  • 1. Do you have a computer for taking the course? (For example, HP, Lenovo, Mac. etc)*
  • 2. Do you know what is a browser?*
  • 3. Are you able to OPEN file attachments sent to your email?*
  • 4. Are you able to SEND attachments by email?*
  • 5. Do you know what is a URL? *Hint: It begins with http:// or https://*
  • 6. Are you able to do a basic 'SEARCH" on Google or other search engines?*
  • 7. Are you able to click and open links to other webpages?*
  • 8. Do you know how to save files by right clicking on your mouse and SAVE AS?*
  • 9. Are you able to find a link when it opens in a new window on your browser?*
  • 10. Do you know how to REFRESH a page?
  • 11. Do you know what "copy and paste" means?*
  • 12. Do you know how to create a new email address?*
  • 13. Are you able to open a new window on your browser?*
  • 14. Are you able to BOOKMARK a website or add a website to your Favorites folder?*
  • 15. Do you know what is a PDF file? Can you download a PDF file and read it?*
  • 16. Do you know what is a WORD document? What is an Excel spreadsheet?*
  • 17. Are you able to use a headset/microphone with your computer and listen to or record audios?*
  • If you are not able to hear your voice, try unplugging and plugging your headset again and see if you are able to record.

    You should also try switching to a different browser. For example, if you are using Microsoft Edge, try switching to Google Chrome to see if the issue persists.
