Need-Based Scholarships
The Community Music School of Ann Arbor (CMSa2) offers financial assistance based upon financial need.
- Financial aid students may use the payment plan, but failure to make payments will result in rescission of financial aid.
- Even though financial aid is limited, CMSa2 will make every effort to assist students who demonstrate financial need and would not be able to study at CMSa2 without financial assistance.
- Scholarship recipients are expected to participate in CMSa2 related volunteer activities which may include helping at events and with fundraising efforts.
Financial Aid Policies
CMSa2 doesn't usually award full scholarships. The range of scholarship assistance will be between 10% and 80% of the total tuition for qualified students. Please take this in consideration when you decide on the lesson/ class options.
Priority Consideration
For priority consideration, applications for financial aid must be submitted no later than August 31 for the following academic year.
After this date, applications will be considered on a rolling basis as funds allow. Any increase in lesson time or number of lessons will not necessarily result in a proportionate increase in the award. A student who withdraws prior to the completion of a semester will not receive credit on his/her financial assistance for subsequent enrollment.
Obligations for Recipients
Acceptance of financial aid from CMSa2 carries with it an obligation on the part of the student to attend lessons/ classes on a regular basis and to work diligently to make progress in his/her areas of study. It is also expected that students and parents will interact in an appropriate manner with staff and faculty.
Financial Aid Disclaimer
The receipt of assistance does not guarantee assistance in the future. All financial aid students will be required to submit a signed financial aid contract to indicate acceptance of their financial aid award.
