CIS is pleased to offer students access to computers to enhance learning. The purpose of the Parent and Student Computer Use Agreement is to help ensure a safe environment for all students when using these resources. Please read the student agreement with your child carefully and discuss its importance prior to signing.
School Expectations
We expect students to behave appropriately on computers just as they would in the classroom or on the playground. We expect students to be respectful and considerate of others in all situations. Each student is personally responsible for his or her behavior including when he or she is using the school’s computer resources.
The Computer Use Agreement applies to the use of any electronic device at school whether or not the equipment belongs to the school. It encompasses use of the school’s network, wireless, and internet. It includes use at school and remote access to our resources from home or elsewhere.
Student Support
CIS is committed to helping you educate your child on safe internet use. Kid-friendly search engines such as www.safesearchkids.com offer a means to navigate the internet without inappropriate content. The Media Center offers online access to paid resources such as World Book Kids, which features quality articles written at a child’s reading level. Visit https://www.cislions.org/mediacentercp to discover more reading and research resources.
Consequences
Computer use is a privilege, and the school may suspend use at any time if a student does not abide by the agreement. Violation of the agreement may also result in further disciplinary measures as outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook. Parents will be held responsible to pay for any damages their child incurs to computer equipment or the network.
As a parent or guardian of a student at CIS, I have read and understood the Parent and Student Computer Use Agreement and above information about the appropriate use of computers and responsibilities required.
