The ACT 4 Global Change Youth conference (previously Move Your World) invites youth, ages 15-17, to learn about and take action on global issues. Hosted by the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation, participants will spend three days (Nov 9-12, 2018) at the Tatamagouche Centre in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.
Through interactive activities, discussion, games, reflection and more, the conference will explore topics such as: peace & conflict, human rights, Indigenous realities, the Sustainable Development Goals, refugee experiences, poverty & food sovereignty, gender equity, environment & sustainability, international trade (fair trade) & food security, global migration, 2SLGBTQ+ realities, water and sanitation, and more.
The conference is an opportunity for youth to get informed, get inspired, and take action on local and global issues in a safe and welcoming space. Participants will meet and engage with a diversity of youth from a variety of communities and cultures from all 4 Atlantic provinces.
A huge part of what makes the conference success is solid, informative, interactive workshops hosted by ACIC members, partners and community organizations.
Workshops should be youth-friendly, interactive, and accessible for a diverse youth audience. Facilitators should include experiential education methods when possible, and incorporate a variety of content-delivery methods to engage people with different learning styles.
The goal is to help participants connect their personal experience and skills with issues and work happening locally and globally. The youth come prepared to learn and exchange information, and our facilitators always walk away from the conference with a positive experience. It is an opportunity to promote a topic you are passionate about, and also promote your organization. In addition to this we will be offering an honorarium and travel bursaries to those who are selected to facilitate a workshop at the conference.
All proposals must be submitted by Friday, September 14th.
