The programming team consists of three different teams. The panel runners, stage hands and event coordinators. Event Coordinators (with a few exception on Cosplay Contest team) & Panel Runners are full time, while stage hands is part time. However, being staff means working as a team and if help is needed elsewhere, you may be asked to lend a helping hand or help a con goer in need.
Panel Runners - Your main goal is to make sure the schedule stays on time, and to assist panelist on site. A team that takes care of the various panels going on during the weekend. Responsibilities are, but not limited to, keeping up with the schedule and learning the equipment that the con will be providing to the panelists, as well as checking on and helping set up the panelists session every hour upon the hour to make sure the schedule is going on time. You will also be doing head counts and be readily available if something happens to go wrong during a panel. This is a physical position where you will be on your feet most of the convention.
Event Coordinators – Your main goal is providing Gateway Comic Con with unique events that are exclusive to the event, starting from the planning process to execution. Responsibilities are, but not limited to, pre-con attending various meetings throughout the year to keep up with your team and work together to plan events relating to the topic of your team via skype meetings and/or Facebook group. At-con, you will be setting up and executing these events. These positions are pre-con and at-con intensive. We suggest those unsure if they are ready for this position to try out with Stage Hands first to see the workload of Event Coordinators.
Stage Hands - Your main goal is to assist in setup and execution of events at Gateway Comic Con. Prior to the convention, you will be scheduled events to attend to assist in anyway the event coordinator needs. However, if cancellations happen you may be reassigned at con as well. Assistance to the events may be but not limited to decorating, running quick errands (within the convention,) operating carnival games, handing out pamphlets, ect.
