In Persistent Pursuit of Excellence
The Essay is based on the vision and sermonic focus on “Faithful Followers”. As disciples and committed followers of Jesus Christ, God has equipped us with everything that we need. God wants us to cultivate our relationship with him.
QUESTION: Choose one of the scriptures below. Explain what the scripture means to you. How has this scripture impacted you in your pursuit for excellence?
Philippians 4:13(KJV)– “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
2 Peter 1:5-6 (ERV) - “ Because you have these blessings, do all you can to add to your life these things: to you’re your goodness add knowledge; to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add patience; to your patience add devotion to God; to your devotion add kindness toward your brothers and sisters in Christ, and to this kindness add love. If these things are in you and growing, you will never fail to be useful to God.”
1 Peter 3: 8-11 (ERV)– “So all of you should live together in peace. Try to understand each other. Love each other like brothers and sisters. Be kind and humble. Don’t do wrong to anyone to pay them back for doing wrong to you. Or don’t insult anyone to pay them back for insulting you. But ask God to bless them. Do this because you yourselves were chosen to receive a blessing.”
Philippians 3:13-16 (ERV)– Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me. I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven. All of us who have grown to be spiritually mature should think this way too. And if there is any of this that you don’t agree with, God will make it clear to you. But we should continue following the truth we already have.”
