    Australian Crawl Goodna is committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children is always maintained during their participation in activities run within its facilities.

    We declare:

    ·       We have ZERO TOLERANCE of child abuse in any form – physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect

    ·       All allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures

    ·       We acknowledge our legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when child abuse is suspected or disclosed

    ·       We are committed to preventing child abuse and identifying risks early through comprehensive risk assessments

    ·       We recognize and commit to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

    ·       We commit to providing a safe environment for children with disabilities, with appropriate accommodations and accessibility

    ·       We commit to robust human resources and recruitment practices that prioritise child safety

    ·       We are committed to regularly training and educating our board members, staff and volunteers on child abuse risks and prevention strategies

    ·       We promote a safe environment for all children and young people

    ·       We assist all paid employees and volunteers, officials, coaches, and members to recognise child abuse and neglect and follow appropriate notification procedures

    Who Must Comply with the Code of Conduct?

    Code of conduct for Employees

     

    As an employee of Australian Crawl Goodna, I will:

    ·       Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person, regardless of their abilities, gender, identity, religion, sexuality or cultural background

    ·       Support all efforts to remove any form of abuse in this organisation and encourage a safe and supportive service environment

    ·       Ensure that any physical contact with others is appropriate to the situation and necessary for the person's skill development

    ·       Refrain from developing close personal relationships with the swimmers outside of the coaching/teaching relationship

    ·       Refrain from using abusive, derogatory or offensive language

    ·       Impart knowledge and skills in a respectful and encouraging manner

    ·       Respect the decisions of the staff/officials and encourage swimmers to do the same

    ·       Always consider the health, safety and welfare of the swimmers

    ·       Not show favouritism toward any child

    ·       Report any sign of abuse, bullying, inappropriate behaviour to senior management

    ·       Not provide gifts to children unless approved by facility management as part of program incentives

    ·       Not provide private transport to children unless approved by parents in advance and documented

    ·       Not offer babysitting or private services to children or families

    ·       Never connect with children on personal social media accounts – all communication via official facility channels only

    ·       Actively listen to children's concerns and take them seriously

    ·       Maintain professional boundaries at all times

    ·       Immediately disclose any changes in police information to HR Manager and CSO

    Using alcohol or other substances before or during work; Inappropriate clothing; Sending inappropriate emails or messages; Unauthorized personal contact via social media or phone
  • Breach of Code of Conduct

    In the event that the code of conduct for interacting with children and young people is breached, actions will be taken in accordance with our organisation's plan for managing breaches of the child and youth risk management strategy.

    I hereby confirm my understanding of my roles and responsibilites within the current version of JUST's Child Safety Policy, and commit to upholding the ideals that support the protection of young people within my job role.

    I have received appropriate training and understand that i can escalate all suspicions or disclosures to my Manager or Child Safety Officer without delay.

    I will adhere to supervision, changeroom age rules, and communication boundaries.

    I understand that compliance is mandatory and I am legally protected when reporting concerns in good faith.
