The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism and Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation invite all eligible youth to participate in an antlerless white-tailed deer hunt Oct. 6 and 7 at Wolf Creek Generating Station in Burlington, Kansas.
This hunt is for youth, ages 12-18, who have never harvested a deer. Each youth must be accompanied by an adult mentor. Successful applicants should dress appropriately for the weather during the hunt. Game tags, enclosed blinds, orange outer garments, and other necessary gear will be provided, including basic game processing.
An education day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. During this education day, youth will have the opportunity to practice shooting with a deer rifle and become familiar with the gear that will be used during the hunt. Some deer rifles will be available for use during the education day and the hunt. Successful applicants and their mentor will be paired with an experienced volunteer hunting guide during the hunt. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 9.
