Scholarship Application Form
This scholarship award was established by Lynn Gary, daughter of Eloise Voorhies Gary, to honor the memory and the accomplishments of this influential south Louisiana artist and educator. An award of $500 will be presented to an outstanding student in art education to help pay for tuition and/or educational expenses.
To qualify for the award, the student will be a currently enrolled junior or senior in an Art Education program (major or minor), or in an alternative certification program pursuing a teaching certificate in Art Education K-12 in any Louisiana university or college.
The award recipient will have the intent of teaching art whether in a K-12 school or an institute of higher learning, or in programs offered outside of formal education formats, for example, Boys and Girls Clubs, summer camps, or other organizations. Ideally the recipient will intend to teach art in Louisiana, but teaching art in schools, colleges, and other organizations anywhere is acceptable.
The applicants will have a grade point average of at least 2.5 and will provide documentation for that average. The applicants must be junior level status by the start of the fall 2022 semester and provide verification of enrollment. The applicant will also show proof of continuing the course of study, or in the case of a graduating senior, provide proof of eligibility to graduate.
The award will be made late in the fall semester. Applications must be received by Monday, October 31, 2022.
