London Fringe Festival
May 28 - June 08, 2019
Visual Fringe application, policies and general information
Please read carefully. This is your agreement with the London Fringe Festival.
Participation:
VisualFringe is based on a few simple concepts: artistic freedom for all artists (you can do what you want), participating artists decide the scope of the exhibit (we are a non-juried show), and artists keep 100% of all sales.
Your work must be original (no reproductions). VisualFringe is more than simply art on walls – we welcome and encourage interactive media. If you have an idea that may be considered "unusual" please contact us.
Your work may be for exhibit only, or for sale, or a combination thereof. Sales will be by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. All cheques will be made payable to the artist. It is your responsibility to pay any government taxes. Artwork sold will remain on display for the duration of the exhibit, although exceptions can be made for out-of-town purchasers with the mutual consent of the artist and the Fringe.
Insurance:
The Fringe has insurance coverage for your work while it is in our space. You will be required to provide a list of the true value of each piece to be exhibited when you drop off your work. The Fringe is only responsible for artwork you install in the exhibit. We are not responsible for artwork not displayed or work left behind after Sunday, June 9, 2019.
Acceptance/ confirmation:
VisualFringe has 22 wall spaces and 3 free-standing floor spaces. There are no combination wall/floor spaces, but it is possible to pay for one of each (so you have two spaces), or find an artist-buddy to share with (so you split two spaces). Spaces are on a first come, first in basis. Once the 25 spaces are filled, a waiting list will be established.
Successful artists will be contacted by phone or e-mail. Payment of the $100.00 fee can be made by cash, cheque, debit, or credit card.
Other:
Each Artist will get approximately 6 feet of running wall space or the equivalent in floor space. Your artwork must be exhibition ready by the drop off date: Monday, May 27, 2019, between the hours of 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
The Fringe reserves the right to limit the number of pieces installed per artist per space. We have a limited number of hooks available and these will be shared equally among artists.
Artists must be prepared to assist in the installation of their work. Artists are required to volunteer for a minimum of one, 3-hour gallery shift during the exhibit.
You will be included in all the Fringe Festival promotions (program and website). Please make sure you read all information sent from the Fringe and adhere to the deadlines we indicate. If you miss the deadline for images for the printed program, you will simply not be in the program.
We have deadlines for our printed program, our website, art tag information, art drop off, and art pick up. Detailed information will be sent to you at a later date. Failure to comply with deadlines may result in your removal from the exhibit. There will be no refund in such circumstances.
NOTE: The London Fringe is not responsible for cash and carry items (e.g. greeting cards, multiples such as prints, jewellery …). Artists wishing to sell cash and carry items may only do so while on site during their volunteer gallery shift. Artists selling cash and carry work are responsible for the set up and take down of their display and the management of their sales. (These sales do not go through the Fringe.)
There will be an artist’s orientation meeting (date TBA) and you will be expected to attend.
Opening night festivities will be on Wednesday May 29th, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and you are encouraged to attend.
All artwork must be removed between 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 9, 2019. The Fringe is not responsible for any items left after that date.
Refund Policy:
There are no refunds should an artist withdraw.
Finally:
Submission of your application and fees indicates that you have read and agree to all of the stated information. Please contact us if you have any questions or need clarification of these details.
We recommend that you make a copy of the application form for your own records.
