Description
The Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) ’49 Club recognizes those members whose contributions and leadership in District 1, District 2 or both who significantly enhanced the quality of health care provided by the profession of athletic training. These individuals have shaped the profession through their exceptional accomplishments and dedication to service and leadership. The ’49 Club is considered the highest honor an EATA member can achieve.
Eligibility
- Nominations must be made by a District 1 or District 2 member in good standing with the NATA.
- Nominee may be an active, retired or deceased District 1 or District 2 member.
- Nominee must have an NPI number.
- Nominee must be BOC certified.
- Nominee must have served a minimum of 25 years in the athletic training profession.
- Nominee must be, or had been, a member of District 1 or District 2 or a combination of both for a minimum of 15 years preceding this nomination.
- Nominee must have been in a District leadership capacity a minimum of 5 years. This may include serving as an officer, committee chair/coordinator, educational program chair, etc.
- Nominee must have made significant contributions to the profession in either District 1, District 2 or both.
- A nominee is eligible for re-nomination if their previous nomination was unsuccessful.
- Current District 1 and District 2 NATA/EATA board officers are not eligible.
Criteria
- Nominee must submit a completed ’49 Club Application to the EATA ’49 Club Committee from July 1 - October 1 for the following January EATA Meeting.
- Three (3) Letters of Advocacy. Two (2) letters must be from athletic trainers in Districts 1 and/or 2 who had been certified for a minimum of 15 years. One (1) letter must be from a medical provider who is not an athletic trainer (eg. physician, physician’s assistant, school nurse, etc…). Letters must be submitted to the EATA ’49 Club Committee no later than October 1 to be considered for the following January EATA Meeting.
Special Considerations
- Deceased District 1 or District 2 members not meeting the 25 years requirement may be considered for induction if their work brought distinction to District 1 or District 2.
- Athletic trainers from another district who once served in District 1, District 2 or both for a minimum of 25 years and brought distinction to District 1, District 2 or both.
- A District 1 or District 2 athletic trainer who served either or both districts for a minimum of 25 years but had not served on a Board or committee but gave outstanding service.
