External Speaker Agreement:
Leeds Beckett Students’ Union (LBSU) supports the culture of academic freedom on campus and encourages open debate towards the development of students’ ideas and understanding.
LBSU has a responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of students and the general public. All events organised by student groups intend to balance freedom of expression with freedom from harm and prevent speakers who incite hatred, violence or law breaking.
By attending an LBSU event you agree to abide by the Union’s policies and regulations, the legislation that protect individuals and groups from intimidation, discrimination and harassment and to be respectful of the beliefs and opinions of others.
In particular:
- It is not permitted to encourage, glorify or promote any acts of terrorism including individuals, groups or organisations that support such acts.
- It is not permitted to incite hatred, violence or call for the breaking of the law.
- It is not permitted to spread hatred and intolerance or promote disruption of social and community harmony.
- Please take care not to insult other faiths or groups.
- It is not permitted to raise funds for any external organisation or cause without express permission of Leeds Beckett Students’ Union.
- Any instructions from event organisers, Leeds Beckett SU staff or University security must be followed.
Any breach of LBSU's policies may result in disciplinary or further action being taken. This may restrict the ability of student groups to organise future activities and events.
I have read and understood the LBSU Speaker Agreement detailed above.
