USGBC-LA’s 9th Annual Sustainable Innovation Awards offer prestige and afirmation of your project team’s commitment to a sustainable built environment. Unlike standardized rating systems, the Sustainable Innovation Awards evaluate merit based upon sustainable strategies that demonstrate exemplary performance by going above and beyond credit achievement. The Sustainable Innovation Awards are open to projects certified under any sustainability rating system.

All winners will be recognized during USGBC-LA's 15th Annual Green Gala at Los Angeles Atheltic Club in Hollywood on December 11, 2019.

 

 

ELIGIBILITY

• Projects must have been awarded sustainable design certification (LEED, SITES, WELL, Living Building Challenge, Passive House, Envision, etc.) between 10/1/2018 and 09/10/2019.

 

• Projects located anywhere in Southern California are eligible to submit

7. Social Equity
8. Resilience
9. Project of the Year (Optional) *All submissions including a Project of the Year Statement will be considered for this "Best in Show" category. No additional entry fee is required.

In an effort to streamline the submission process and reduce paper use, the submission will be entirely electronic. 

 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Each submission should complete the two forms listed in the steps below and include the final certification scorecard.

2. Completed Project Form

DO NOT include any firm-identifying information on the Project Form.

3. Photography (Uploaded online)

Six (6) images minimum at 300 dpi

Include project name

Include copyright information

(DO NOT include any other information)

Images may be used for USGBC-LA publications and posts.

4. Final Certification Scorecard (PDF Format)

Project Team Members (List all project team members: architect, engineers, sustainability consultant, contractor, owner, etc.)

Guidance

The Sustainable Innovation Awards evaluate merit based upon sustainable strategies that demonstrate exemplary performance by going above and beyond certification achievement.

The jury is evaluating each submission based on the submission form and images. Projects are evaluated in the context of the category in which they are submitted. Historically, projects that have scored well provide thoughtful responses describing the project’s innovative strategies in that category. Specific examples will help the jury in their evaluation.
