  • What is SEDPI and SRI ?

    SEDPI Development Finance, Inc. (SDFI) was incorporated in the Philippines on March 10, 2008 under republic Act No. 8556 or the Financing Company Act with company registration number CS200803725.

    Socially responsible investments (SRI) is also known as impact investing  where investments are made to companies, organizations and funds with the intention to generate a measurable, beneficial social or environmental impact alongside a financial return.

    The proceeds are used to invest in a well-selected portfolio of debt and equity securities through joint ventures; mostly to microfinance institutions and social enterprises operating in the Philippines, as well al small scale real estate projects. This is designed to accommodate small social investors seeking capital appreciation and positive social impact.

    1. I am not engaged in any of the unlawful activities listed in the Anti-Money Laundering Act (“AMLA”), as amended, and its implementing rules and regulations. I further declare that the funds that I will invest are not from any of the said unlawful activities.

    2. I hold SEDPI, its officers and representatives, free and harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, and suits of whatever nature arising out of or in connection with the opening of this account.

    3. I am voluntarily applying for membership in SEDPI  to enable me to participate in its activities e.g. joint venture.

    4. I am willing to undergo membership procedures and requirements to apply or maintain my membership.

    5. I accept the terms and conditions of the joint venture agreement with SEDPI Group of Social Enterprises to support the development of social enterprises and microfinance institutions.

    6. I will attended at least one financial literacy training (live or online) of SEDPI or Vince Rapisura before my joint venture contribution reaches PhP100,000.

  • Tagum Coop (TC) is a cooperative that provides financial services to low income groups mostly in Mindanao with headquarters in Davao del Norte. SEDPI places share capital in Tagum Coop.   • In the event that the chosen organization is already oversubscribed, SEDPI will notify the investor and the amount will be credited to SEDPI wallet until further instructions from SEDPI.

    Preferred shares have 3% exit fee when redeemed before two years. Debt assignments have 3% entry fee and 3% exit fee when redeemed before two years.

    2. Can we withdraw our investments? How? Yes, you can. Just visit SEDPI Social Investor Online, select I am a SEDPI social investor and use the code emailed to you. 
    3. How long is the withdrawal process? Usually two weeks.
    4. Can I have a beneficiary? You are required to elect at least one beneficiary.
    5.  Is the dividend rate the same every year? No, it depends on the performance of the organization and is set every January.
    6. Is there a passbook? No. You will receive a stock certificate representing preferred shares.
