Membership Agreement
I hereby apply for membership in UEA, Education Minnesota, and the national affiliates AFT and NEA. I understand my membership is continuous from year to year as long as I remain actively employed. I request and voluntarily authorize my employer to deduct my UEA membership dues or monthly service fee from my wages in regular monthly increments for the duration of my continuous membership. This authorization will remain in effect irrespective of my membership in the union unless revoked by written submission to both my employer and the local union during the seven day period that begins on September 24th and ends on September 30. Such revocation will take effect on October 1 in the year which I submit the revocation. I understand that if my active membership ends, I can continue my eligibility for field and legal assistance by purchasing an Education Minnesota reserve or retired membership at that time. The invalidity of or unenforceability of any provision in this agreement shall not affect the other provisions and the agreement shall be construed in all respects as if such invalid or unenforceable provision were omitted. Dues payments (or a portion) may be deductible as a miscellaneous itemized deduction. Check with a tax professional. By providing my phone number, I understand and agree that Education Minnesota and its affiliates may use automated calling technologies and/or text messages to me on my cellular telephone approximately 4-5 times per month. Political Action Committee (PAC)
Your dues include $25 per year for the Education Minnesota PAC. The PAC uses these contributions to fund political action efforts to strengthen the collective voice of educators in public policy making.
Foundation For Excellence in Teaching & Learning
Your dues include $5 per year towards the Education Minnesota Foundation. The foundation uses these contributions to fund member grants as well as workshops that support and promote access to learning and excellence in teaching.
