Please ensure this form is completed by your parent or guardian, however, the information in the form relates to the referee who is beginning his/her training

COMMITMENT TO WORKING FRIDAY NIGHT OR SATURDAY GAMES

As a rule introduced in May 2023, any referee who starts their referee training since this time must commit to at least 80% weekly Friday night or Saturday games for the entire time as a referee.

APPROACHING 18 YEARS OF AGE

You will require a Working With Children Card when you turn 18, otherwise you cannot referee or train as a referee. You can apply for one before you turn 18.

If you are over 18 years of age, you are required to get a free volunteer Working With Children Card before you can start your referee training.

If you require a WWC then you must:
1. contact Cav ASAP
2. put 0000 as your WWC number below
3. upload a blank photo of anything
4. Follow the WWC process below and text a photo of your Australia Post receipt to Cav.

Parental Agreement
At Nunawading, we recognise refereeing as a job and although many of our referees are teenagers, we value the independence and maturity growth this brings to each child. For this reason we communicate directly with the referee only regarding appointments to matches and development. In the event of an incident, behavioural concerns or emotional support needed for any referee under 18 we will always involve a parent or guardian.

Below are some conditions for parents or guardians to agree to in order for us to accept your child to begin his/her referee training.
As a parent/guardian I give permission for Nunawading Basketball staff, supervisors, mentors and referees to directly contact my child in relation to his/her appointments and development as a referee only
As a parent/guardian I understand watching my child referee normally adds more pressure to him/her while she is already under pressure as a referee in training, so I agree not to watch him/her referee.
Referees are always held to a higher standard of performance, behaviour and expectations than other members of Nunawading. As a parent/guardian of a child who will represent Nunawading, these expectations are extended onto parents/guardians as well. So I agree to always abide by the BV codes of conduct and expectations from Nunawading Basketball and I understand any inappropriate behaviour may impact the position my child has as a referee at Nunawading.
