The Georgia Department of Education’s Division for Special Education Services and Supports has been supportive of districts and partnering agencies to provide opportunities for students to participate in initiatives that promote self-determination which align with the Georgia's Systems of Continuous Improvement process to cultivate the whole child and improve graduation rates for all students.
The GaDOE is committed to supporting the scaling up of self-determination initiatives across the state including student-led IEPs, ASPIRE and the Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction (SDLMI). This support will begin with in-depth training in the use of the SDLMI and the Self-Determination Inventory.
Districts are encouraged to register for the SDLMI and SDI trainings. Training will consist of two one-hour webinars and one face to face training. Face to face trainings will be held at the Georgia Department of Education, West Tower Training Rooms A, B, & C.; 8:30am-3:00pm. Registrants for the face to face training will receive the links for the two webinars.
