• UMOJA Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with UMOJA MN! We are gearing up for our fall camp outdoor event with performances and activities on Sunday, October 3 at Como Lakeside Pavilion from 11 am - 4:30 pm. The theme of our camp is Tell me Who I am: One Nation Under a Groove. We will be celebrating the rich history of African American music and movement with live performances. The Sounds of Blackness will perform and other local groups will do drum and dance workshops. We are looking for volunteers to help us before, during and after the event.
  • Information about UMOJA MN Camp

UMOJA MN serves families who have adopted, are fostering or are providing kinship care to at least one African American child. Our mission is to support families so that they can raise happy, healthy and culturally-aware children who will grow up to have a positive sense of self and to change the world for the better. To do this, we provide workshops for youth that offer a deeper understanding of Black history and culture. We also provide workshops for adults that build and strengthen their awareness about Black culture and history so that they can better support their African American children.
