Initial Surrender Information
  • Initial Surrender Information

PLEASE NOTE - IF WE FEEL WE MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST WITH REHOMING YOUR DOG THERE WILL BE A MORE COMPREHENSIVE (LONGER) FORM YOU WILL NEED TO FILL OUT SIMILAR TO THIS ONE.
  • PLEASE NOTE: We are a rescue group located in Melbourne, Australia. We cannot help with rescues interstate unfortunately.

  • All of our pets have a health check at our vets, and are vaccinated and desexed at a minimum. As most of them are elderly, many require more treatment such as visits to specialists, dentals etc.

We charge a $150 rehoming fee. But this can be waived in cases of financial hardship.

  • Are you able to pay the $150 rehoming fee explained above?*
  • Is your dog desexed?*
  • Is your dog listed for rehoming with any other groups?*
  • PLEASE READ:

Please do not waste our time shopping around for options for your dog, if we agree to have your dog assessed and/or find a foster carer or adopter for your dog, we must be the only group involved. You must not continue to ask around your networks for a home for your dog. We have limited foster care places available, and if we are allocating a foster carer to your dog, that is taking the place away from another dog.

If you are still looking around for options for your dog please try Forever Friends Animal Rescue or Second Chance animal Rescue or  you can try a no kill shelter like AAPS – The Australian Animal Protection Society. We are volunteers, and working to find a rescue place and processing the admin for surrenders is time-consuming, and to have people suddenly stop responding, or take their dog elsewhere is frustrating, apart from our concern as to the future of the dog.

We are serious about what we do and are not here to be a backstop in case you find a better option.

  • I have read and agree to the above information*
  • Is your dog microchipped?*
  • Do you need your dog moved by a certain date?*
  • If we proceed with the rehoming process, we may require an assessment of your dog by our external dog behaviourists. This is to get a full, unbiased opinion of your dog's rehoming suitability and to write up an appropriate profile to potential adopters and foster carers.

  • Do you agree to us passing on your details to our behaviouralists so that they can contact you to arrange a suitable time for an assessment?*
  • Our preferred assessor works out of the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. Would you be able to travel to that area for an assessment if needed?*
  • If we do not have a carer who is suitable for your dog we may advertise on Facebook for a new carer. Of course any carer who applies through a Facebook ad will need to go through our normal rigorous screening process (application, phone interview, property check).

  • Are you happy with us advertising your dog/s on our public Facebook page for a new carer if needed?*
