  • The Anne Burrows Music Foundation's vision is for its musicians to make a positive impact around the world through music. The ABMF's mission is to fund gifted, local music students so that they can pursue excellence in their post-secondary music education. As a scholarship applicant and potential recipient, we hope our vision and mission guide and inspire your responses.     To be eligible, applicants must meet all 4 of the following criteria:

    • ​be residents or former residents of the Edmonton or surrounding areas;
    • have received a minimum of 4 years of musical education in the above-noted areas;
    • be seeking and committed to a career in music; and
    • be between the ages of 16 and 30 in the year the application is made.

    The scholarship is typically limited to:

    • up to $15,000 per applicant every year; and
    • up to a maximum of 4 years per applicant.

     The scholarship covers:

    • tuition for a recognized post-secondary degree or accredited conservatory training program;
    • master classes from nationally/internationally recognized artists; and
    • travel expenses to international music competitions.

    Please also note that applications with missing or incomplete components may be disqualified. We recommend that applicants follow up with their references as required.

  • ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT: As small 100% volunteer based organizations, the ABMF and Friends of the ABMF ask that recipients contribute some volunteer hours, including providing a high quality video of a performance for marketing and promotion purposes on platforms such as Youtube by May 31 of the scholarship year; performing at annual Opus concerts and/or private functions; volunteering at casino events organized by the Friends; volunteering with the ABMF working board; and promoting the ABMF within their network and profession, including acknowledgement in their CV, promotional and press communications, and concert programs. This is essential to the continued operation of the ABMF and Friends, and will be an important consideration in the application deliberation process. Please identify the following volunteer opportunities that yourself, your family or your friends would be willing to assist with:*

  • Please have 2 recommendation letters (eg. from recent teachers) confidentially e-mailed directly to info@burrowsfoundation.org:

    • Reference letters must include the referee’s relationship with the applicant, and their email or phone number;

    • Reference letters on letterhead are preferred;

    • All reference letters must be received by the ABMF on or before the application submission deadline, April 30;
