Consent statement: You are invited to participate in a research study about a texting program for parents of middle school students. After enrolling in the program, you will receive a few text messages per week during the 2018-19 school year. There are no risks associated with this study.
The benefits which may reasonably be expected to result from this study are to get helpful information about supporting and guiding your middle school child’s academic trajectory and social emotional learning as they transition from middle school to high school.
As part of the study, we are also asking for your permission to: (1) survey you and your child at the end of the school year and (2) access your child’s school administrative data.
These data include your child’s age, gender, race/ethnicity, home language, courses taken, attendance, grades, tests, and your cell phone number and email.
Your participation is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty. Your individual privacy and the confidentiality of the information you provide will be maintained in all work resulting from the study. If you have any questions or comments about this study you can contact Dr. Kalena Cortes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
