The Mount Sinai Health System is committed to a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Each individual has the right to work in a professional atmosphere that promotes equal employment opportunities and prohibits discriminatory practices, including harassment. It is required that all relationships among persons in the workplace be business-like and free of bias, prejudice and harassment.
It is the policy of the Health System to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, citizenship, marital status, creed, sexual orientation, gender, gender expression or gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law. The creation of a hostile work environment or the sexual harassment of any employee, applicant for employment, intern (whether paid or unpaid), contractor (and their employees), subcontractor (and their employees), vendor (and their employees), or other person conducting business with the Health System or its employers (“Covered Individuals”), by either a supervisor or co-worker, is unacceptable conduct and is not tolerated by the Health System.
This policy applies to all Covered Individuals, and prohibits harassment, discrimination, and retaliation whether engaged in by fellow employees, by a supervisor or manager, or someone not directly connected to the Health System (e.g. an outside vendor, consultant, patient or customer).
