Silat Sharaf Disciples Mindset Evaluation

Silat Sharaf Disciples Mindset Evaluation

The SSDME score will evaluate your current mindset against the martial and leadership characteristics of some of the most fearsome warrior groups in history. This evaluation will assist you in improving your current combat training practices and challenging your martial assumptions. The SSDME is not a measuring stick to see which combat art is better than another. It is a method of self-discovery of your own state of mind and training norms in comparison to those of men and women who conquered nations. Your SSDME score is focused on decisions you would actually make, instead of beliefs or opinions you hold. This makes for a more realistic evaluation framework with which to provide you a score. The more honest your answers are, the more accurate your score will be. There are no right and wrong answers here, there are only answers that best represent your current martial state of mind and who you are right now. You might dislike your score, you might even decide you don't want to see your score, but if you answer honestly, it is YOUR score. And a realistic index of your martial state of mind that you can either embrace or work to change in the future with the feedback provided afterward. This evaluation is a requirement for anyone wishing to join the Pencak Silat Sharaf Instructor Group. Enjoy your journey - TotalUrbanSurvival.com

0-25 Points - A very indecisive character lacking in martial attitude 25-50 Points - Somewhat indecisive character with undeveloped martial attitude  50-75 Points - A strong character with a developing martial attitude that still needs nurturing and learning, preferably with a mentor figure 75-90 Points - A decisive character with a strong martial attitude and the ability to take pre-emptive actions to secure victory over opponents 90-100 Points - A very decisive character with a highly-developed martial attitude and the strategic capability to calculate long-term advantages and dangers The three major takeaways everyone should have from this evaluation are: 1. Decisive action is the foundation of a true warrior spirit. 2. Pre-establish priorities and key life and death decisions mentally prior to entering the field of battle. This can be literal in terms of a military campaign or figurative in terms of a business or professional environment.  3. Being adaptable in difficult circumstances will put you ahead of others who can't easily adapt to changes.   Decisive Decision Making and Leadership If your score falls within a low bracket you are likely very indecisive and uncomfortable making hard decisions. You are also likely not to enjoy the more aggressive side of martial arts training and feel more comfortable with the spiritual and self-development side of the arts. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it just means you should not rely on your martial arts skills in situations of strife or violence because you are not training for that purpose. You define who you are and what you learn the arts for, the art doesn't define you, it should assist you in finding yourself. So if this is what you feel comfortable with, then stay with it regardless of your score. But keep in mind, indecisiveness, regardless of whether you place it in a professional context or in a martial context, will always lead you to failure. So try to make a decision even if it ends up being wrong...at least you did something to try and resolve a problem. The world will forgive you for losing a battle, but they will never forgive you for freezing in battle and doing nothing. Always try your best to be decisive. Decisiveness is one of the most critical aspects of warrior leadership, and it will make or break your ability to be respected (and feared) by those who follow you or oppose you.  Low vs High Scores and what they mean to you The SSDM poses some very tough questions to intentionally make you uncomfortable so you make decisions based on your gut reaction, not on opinions or beliefs. The questions offer hard choices where you or other people you care about can be injured or killed in a moment. You must learn what the traditional warriors learned: always choose yourself. This may seem like a selfish choice, but you must put aside the romantic notions of Hollywood and understand the consequences of actions if you, the warrior leader and head of your team, are lost in battle. Think about it, if you willingly sacrificed yourself to protect one child from an enemy so vile they would be willing to kill children, what would they do to the other three children and the wife you left behind when you're gone? These are the uncomfortable questions that traditional warriors posed to themselves and answered prior to entering any theatre of combat or personal duel. This is what the Samurai referred to as the "resolved spirit" and which we train as part of Tenaga Dalam in Pencak Silat. A kind of internal training. If your score was low and you still want to train with us, you can. We don't turn away sincere people because of a test result, but you must know that the training of mindset is a huge part of your development and will be forefront for you to improve on. If your score was high, you have most probably thought through these issues already and made many of these hard decisions in your mind. Hence, there will be less hesitation when you face hardship in real life. If you have not considered these difficult choices, you will hesitate, take more time, and risk giving critical advantages to your enemies they will be overjoyed to receive. A higher score probably indicates a more martial oriented mentality suited for Silat Sharaf training.
