ASSEMBLY ROOM offers independent women curators the opportunity to realize an exhibition, performance, video/film screening, dialogue/discussion, symposium.
A big part of our mission is to create an unique environment for showcasing independent women curators by providing free exhibition space to selected curator.
We provide selected curators with the following:
- Free exhibition space (400 sq. plus a basement)
- An opportunity to profile your artists and project on our ARTSY page (artsy.net/assembly-room)
- Assembly team support for your installation/program/marketing/opening reception
- Access to our network of arts organizations, galleries, collectors, arts writers, press, and curators
We are accepting applications for innovative curatorial projects that can be successfully realized in January/February 2019.
Requirements:
- Application fee $45.00
- Proposed projects can run between 1 week and 5 weeks (to be decided)
- We encourage proposals that can adapt to the space; reaches into our community context; and foregrounds under represented or overlooked artists.
- Due to the tight time-frame (1 month), we can only accept projects that are ready to go!
- Curators are expected to consign artworks to Assembly Room for the duration of the show. Assembly Room will provide the consignment agreement.
- Curators are expected to be onsite for the duration of the show, including Installation Dates, Opening, Special Programming, Daily Show Hours and De-Installation Dates. Hours are flexible and shared with the team at Assembly Room.
Please note: We require an application fee to cover our administrative fees for processing the applications.

Selected applications:
You will be notified by 29 December 2018. New York City-based curators will be given the opportunity to visit the show location and scout the exhibition space in January 2019.
