Dear Wheaton College Student:
We are excited you are exploring the possibility of serving students at Wheaton College as a member of the Storytelling Project 2020/2021. This application is intended to help you discern if the Storytelling Project is where God is asking you to serve Him next school year.
The Storytelling Project is about capturing the voice and experiences of students on campus for the hope of inspiring more engagement and empathy towards our neighbors. With our efforts, we will see students grow in their intercultural competency, calling to racial unity, and passionate care for one another – all while reflecting the beauty of the gospel and diversity in which it encompasses. Our platform Studio 1:27 helps us gather and share stories, testimonies, and answers to specific questions we ask of students, which inspires various art projects displayed throughout campus.
There are major benefits with serving on the Storytelling Project team. If selected, you will walk away better artist, listeners, and storytellers. Through our time together you will grow deeper in your relationship with the Lord and have a better understanding of your place in his Kingdom. You will be challenged and encouraged to reveal God’s image through storytelling, ultimately pointing to the heart of Jesus Christ. We want every act of our creativity—from writing to painting, music to technology—be enhanced by the reality of the gospel, the hope it affords, and the future it offers.
In considering the application process, we ask that you prayerfully review the following expectations before you apply:
1. You are committed to the purpose of the Storytelling Project and its ministry to the college.
2. You are committed to the full-term August 2020 – April 2021 school year.
3. You will be able to attend the training/bonding retreat from January 15-17, 2021.
4. You are committed to taking ownership of and responsibility for Storytelling projects we plan as a team.
5. You are committed to attending all weekly meetings.
We will be praying for God to help you discern whether you are called to serve Him and students as a member of the Storytelling Project 2020/2021. We ask that as you participate in the selection process, you also prayerfully consider and reach out to others who may be equipped to serve on such a talented team. If you have any questions regarding this process or the StoryTelling Project in general, please feel free to contact us.
